Bengaluru: A 22-year-old BTech graduate, Vetrimaran K, has been reported missing from his grandparents’ house in Vasanthnagar since Jan 17. His family approached police nearly two months later, on March 10.The complaint was filed by his mother, an HR professional with a private firm. According to the complaint, Vetrimaran had left home several times before but usually returned within a month. This time, however, he has not come back. Family members told police that he was not keen on taking up a job and was more interested in spirituality, often expressing a desire to stay in ashrams.The family resides in Chikkabidarakallu on Tumakuru Road, but since 2024, Vetrimaran had been spending most of his time at his grandparents’ house in Vasanthnagar. He completed his engineering degree last year. His mother said the family had repeatedly advised him to apply for jobs, but he showed little interest, frequently talking about living in ashrams and mutts where he could get free food and lead a simple life. In the past, he had travelled to cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Goa and Kurukshetra before eventually returning home.After returning on Jan 9 this year, he reportedly agreed to look for a job and stayed with his grandparents. However, on Jan 17, when they had briefly stepped out, Vetrimaran told his mother that he felt he had no respect at home. He then took his mobile phone and motorcycle and left the house.High Grounds police have registered a case.
