In view of recent crime-related concerns, Chandigarh Police have intensified patrolling across the city and arrested a youth with illegal arms from Sector 25. Police said special patrolling teams have been deployed to prevent untoward incidents and curb anti-social activities.During one such operation, a police team apprehended a suspect near the gas agency turn in Sector 25. The patrolling was carried out under the supervision of SDPO Central Dalbir Singh and SHO Sector-11 Inspector Jaspal Singh Bhullar, with ASI Amarjit Singh leading the team.The accused has been identified as Krish alias Kaka, a resident of Sector 25, Chandigarh. During a search, police recovered two country-made pistols (desi kattas) along with two live cartridges from his possession. As he failed to produce any valid licence or permit for carrying the arms, he was arrested on the spot.A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Arms Act at Sector-11 police station. Police officials said the timely action helped avert a possible untoward incident in the area.The accused is being produced before the court to seek police remand. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the weapons and to find out whether he has any links or involvement in other criminal activities.
