T’puram: Nemom police on Friday arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly assaulting and stabbing his friend following a personal grudge stemming from a recent dispute.The accused, identified as Ranjith T, of Nemom, was taken into custody after the incident, which police said was triggered by resentment over the victim, who is identified as Manikandan, 29, refusing to support him during an earlier altercation. According to officials, the attack occurred around 10.30pm on Tuesday while the two were travelling together in a pickup van. During the journey, Ranjith reportedly confronted his friend over the issue and began verbally abusing him. The argument soon escalated, with Ranjith physically assaulting the victim. Manikandan was later rushed to MCH, and his condition is said to be stable. Following a complaint, Nemom police launched a probe and apprehended the accused. Ranjith has been booked under Section 109 (attempt to murder) under BNS. Further investigation is under way, said police.
