Pune: The Chakan North police on Saturday night arrested a 19-year-old youth and detained his minor accomplice on the charge of stabbing and bludgeoning their friend (20) to death.The murder, which was the fallout of an old dispute, happened at Chakan around 3pm on Saturday. The police identified the deceased as Prathamesh Mane (20) of Nighoje in Khed taluka.Assistant police inspector Rajendra Pawar of the Chakan North police told TOI that the accused and two more accomplices stabbed the victim, Mane, with a screwdriver and then bludgeoned him to death with a stone. “After getting the information about the incident, our team immediately swung into action and took two of them into custody,” Pawar said.He said the accused, Vaibhav Shinde (19) of Chakan, revealed during questioning that a few months ago, he met with a serious accident. He underwent major head surgery. “Shinde told us that a part of his head became sensitive following the surgery. Despite this, Mane pulled his hair,” he said.Pawar said that since then Shinde was furious. On Saturday evening, he tracked Mane in a lane at Chakan. Shinde and his accomplices stabbed him with a screwdriver and later bludgeoned him to death. “Shinde was produced before the court on Sunday and remanded to police custody till Feb 18. The victim, Mane, the accused, and his minor accomplices are school dropouts. The search is on for two others,” Pawar said.
