T’puram: Four people have been taken into custody in connection with the death of a 29-year-old painting worker whose body was found on a roadside at Kullapada in Aryanad. Police said the four were friends of the deceased and were allegedly involved in a fight that followed a dispute over money to buy liquor.The deceased, Rahul of Kullapada, had been drinking with the four men on the day of the incident, police said.A dispute reportedly broke out over money to buy liquor and later escalated into a physical altercation. Rahul sustained serious injuries, police said.The four in custody are Sajan and Libeesh, both from Koliyakkode, and Arun and Kiran, residents of Kullapada area.After the incident, the four allegedly went into hiding. Police took them into custody from Balaramapuram area on Friday morning.Earlier, police had found injuries on Rahul’s head during a preliminary examination. A piece of rubber wood was also found near the body, raising suspicion about the circumstances of his death.Police said Rahul had reached the area to meet a friend and used to frequent the locality. The body was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram medical college hospital for postmortem on Friday morning.
