Kanpur: A 20-year-old youth died after a speeding tanker knocked him down and ran over him in Sachedi on Monday evening while he was walking to a Shiv temple for darshan.The driver abandoned the tanker and fled the scene.The victim, Vansh Verma, a resident of Jaswantnagar, was a second-year BBA student at Pranveer Singh Institute of Technology. He lived in rented accommodation in Kanpur with a friend.According to police, a speeding tanker hit Vansh near BPCL Road, killing him on the spot.Police sent the body for postmortem examination and took the tanker into custody.Station House Officer Dinanath Mishra said CCTV footage from the area is being examined and a team has been formed to trace the absconding driver.
