Srinagar, March 7 : Youm-ul-Badr, marking the historic Battle of Badr, was observed today at Jama Masjid Srinagar, where Qur’an Khwani and remembrance meeting was held on the occasion of the 58th death anniversary of Mufassir-e-Qur’an Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Yousuf Shah (RA).
The gathering was attended by Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, along with other ulema and scholars, including Molana Showkat Keng who paid rich tributes to the life and legacy of the late Mirwaiz.

Referring to Ramzan as the month of the Qur’an, speakers paid tributes to Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Yousuf Shah (RA) for his historic translation of the Holy Qur’an into the Kashmiri language, calling it a priceless gift that enabled generations to connect with its message in their own language.
Speakers also appreciated his steadfastness in exile, noting that despite being forced from his homeland he remained firm in his commitment to faith, scholarship, and the service of the community.
They also expressed deep concern over the escalating situation in the Middle East, particularly the bombing and loss of innocent lives in Iran, and urged the international community to intervene and stop the violence and injustice.
The gathering concluded with collective prayers for peace, justice, and unity of the Muslim Ummah, especially during the blessed days.
