Lucknow: Efforts to strengthen child nutrition services and generate local employment are set to get a push as chief minister Yogi Adityanath will launch several programmes related to child development and nutrition at Lok Bhavan on Monday.Director, child development and nutrition, Sarneet Kaur Broca, said that growth monitoring devices such as stadiometers, infantometers and weighing scales would be distributed to improve tracking of children’s health.“Across the state, over 1.33 lakh stadiometers, 10,553 infantometers and 58,237 weighing scales are planned for distribution,” Broca said.Appointment letters would be given to newly 10 selected Anganwadi workers and helpers while public representatives would distribute appointment letters to 739 Anganwadi workers in 46 districts and to 15,203 helpers in 42 districts.Smartphones will also be provided in phases to nearly 70,000 workers and supervisors to support digital monitoring and implementation of schemes.A new Anganwadi centre design, costing about Rs 30.32 lakh per unit, will also be unveiled. Foundation stones will be laid for 633 centres, 71 project offices and 69 other units across districts.Additionally, 2,468 Anganwadi centres and 69 project offices would be inaugurated across districts, aimed at strengthening infrastructure and supporting local employment.The director said the initiatives would improve infrastructure and strengthen service delivery at the grassroots level.
