Lucknow: The state capital is likely to get some relief over the next two days as a fresh spell of rain, accompanied by thundershowers and lightning, is expected from Monday evening.According to the weatherman, a fresh western disturbance over Iran and a cyclonic circulation are likely to bring rain to the city on Monday and Tuesday. On Sunday, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded were 35.7°C and 20°C, respectively. “A fresh western disturbance over Iran and a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan are likely to bring light rain on Monday and Tuesday. Light rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is likely to begin from Monday evening, with a few spells expected on Tuesday as well. This may lead to a drop in day temperatures by a few degrees,” said senior scientist Mohammad Danish. He said the city had witnessed a dust storm and drizzle on March 16, while the second round of rain in March occurred on Friday. The third rainy spell is now expected on Monday and Tuesday. He added that such rain and thunderstorm activity has been more frequent this month, as the onset of summer was early this year, with the second half of Feb witnessing temperatures similar to those of May and June. Meanwhile, in the state, rain or thundershowers are very likely at isolated places over east UP and at a few places over west UP. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) at isolated places over east UP. In west UP, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph) are very likely at isolated places.
