Prayagraj: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday reviewed PWD projects worth over Rs 16,000 crore across the Prayagraj division and approved development works for the 2026-27 financial year. He also directed officials to ensure that foundation stones for all approved projects are laid and construction begins by Aug 15, while stressing timely completion and strict adherence to quality standards.Yogi approved 1,168 development projects worth Rs 9,668 crore for Prayagraj district, 1,092 projects worth Rs 2,053 crore for Pratapgarh, 521 projects worth Rs 3,378 crore for Fatehpur and 313 projects worth Rs 915 crore for Kaushambi.Chairing a review meeting at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) auditorium, Yogi also reviewed proposals from all 28 assembly constituencies in the Prayagraj division, including 12 in Prayagraj, seven in Pratapgarh, six in Fatehpur and three in Kaushambi, and sought suggestions from the MPs and MLAs present.During the meeting, the principal secretary, PWD, presented the progress of projects sanctioned last year and gave a detailed Assembly constituency-wise presentation on development works proposed for 2026-27.He also reviewed the proposed Ganga bridge to be constructed parallel to the existing Shastri Bridge, connecting Salori/Baghara with Hetapatti. Officials informed him that site mobilisation had been completed and the designs and drawings were ready. Yogi directed officials to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe, ensure quality through technical vetting by IITs and maintain close coordination with public representatives to expedite construction.The meeting also reviewed the proposed new Yamuna bridge, to be built parallel to the old Naini Bridge on the Karelabagh-Madauka route, which is planned to connect with the Bundelkhand Expressway in the future. After public representatives suggested changes to the alignment, Yogi directed officials to re-examine the proposal in consultation with elected representatives and finalise a practical alignment in the larger public interest.The proposed bridge across the Yamuna linking Handia (Lakshagrih Ghat) with Meja (Paranipur Ghat) also came up for discussion. The bridge is expected to improve connectivity between Handia, Lakshagrih, Prithvipur, Mugaliya, Dullapur and nearby villages with Meja and Mirzapur. The CM directed officials to prepare a comprehensive and technically sound proposal and expedite the project.A proposal to develop a dedicated Kanwar Path alongside the Shastri Bridge to ease traffic congestion during the Kanwar Yatra was also discussed. Yogi directed officials to examine the proposal and ensure that any plan facilitates the movement of Kanwar pilgrims without disrupting regular traffic or commercial activity.Reviewing constituency-wise proposals, the Chief Minister asked MPs and MLAs to prioritise projects according to the specific needs of their constituencies and immediately submit any amendments or fresh suggestions so that approvals could be granted without delay.He reiterated that there should be no unnecessary delays in implementing development schemes and directed all departments to ensure that foundation stones for approved projects are laid and construction begins by August 15.The CM also ordered regular monitoring of all projects to ensure quality and timely completion. He directed officials to prioritise road construction in villages represented by public representatives and stressed that there should be no compromise on quality in any development work. Continuous monitoring and adherence to prescribed standards, he said, must be ensured throughout the execution of every project.
