Pune: After a brief lull in monsoon, only a few patches of the Western Ghats in the state saw triple-digit rainfall in the 24 hours ending 8.30am on Saturday, as per India Meteorological Department (IMD).In the said period, Tamhini recorded the highest rainfall at 200mm, followed by Bhira (198mm), Shirgaon (170mm), Dawdi (144mm), Dungerwadi (139mm), Bhivpuri (129mm) and Koyna (Pophali) (128mm).In Pune district, for 24 hours ending at 8.30am on Saturday, Kurvande received the highest rainfall at 43.5mm, followed by Bhor (40.5mm), Malin (30mm) and Nimgiri (20mm). Rajgurunagar and Koregaon Park recorded 5.5mm each, while Talegaon received 2.5mm, Girivan (1mm) and NDA recorded 0.5mm.Many locations, including Pune city and several ghat sections, recorded very light to moderate rainfall. Moderate to heavy rain was also recorded at Ambone (57mm), Khand (76mm), Wangaon (35mm), Shirota (33mm) and Lonavala (OFF) (32mm).However, several ghat stations received much lower rainfall during the same period. Walvan (28mm), Lonavala (Tata) recorded 24mm, Thakurwadi (23mm), Khopoli (19mm), Dharavi (19mm) and Koyna (Navja) at just 10mm.Within Pune city, rainfall remained very light to light from 8:30am to 5:30pm on Saturday. The IMD observatories recorded 6.5mm at Koregaon Park, 2.6mm at Lohegaon, 1.5mm at Chinchwad, 1.2mm at Shivajinagar, while Lavale reported no rainfall.The IMD has forecast generally cloudy skies with very light to light rain for Pune city from July 18 to July 24. The maximum temperatures are expected to remain around 28-30°C, while minimum temperatures are expected between 22°C and 25°C.While no warning has been issued for Pune city, Pune district, including the ghats, is under a yellow warning for Sunday for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds of 30-40kmph at isolated places.Similar yellow warnings have also been issued for Ahilyanagar, Parbhani, Beed, Akola and Amravati for Sunday, with no warnings currently in place for these districts thereafter.For the wider region, the IMD has forecast isolated to scattered rainfall over Madhya Maharashtra between July 19 and 24, with isolated heavy rainfall during July 21-23. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 40-50kmph, gusting up to 60kmph, are likely over Madhya Maharashtra on July 18 and 19.
