Prayagraj: Yamuna water level at Naini started receding on Tuesday afternoon, while Ganga water level increased at Phaphamau and Chhatnag. At 12 noon, Yamuna at Naini fell by 2 cm, while Ganga rose by 16 cm at Phaphamau and 4 cm at Chhatnag.The officials of the flood control department here said that after the release of flood water, the water level of twin rivers — Ganga and Yamuna — increased rapidly in the past three days. However, following the decline in water level of Ken and other rivers, the water level of Yamuna too started showing receding signs on Tuesday afternoon.In contrast, the water level of Ganga was rising at Phaphamau and Chhatnag. At 12 noon, the water levels of Ganga at Phaphamau and Chhatnag were recorded at 80.44 m and 80.19 m respectively, while the water level of Yamuna at Naini stood at 80.58 m. However, the water level of both rivers recorded an increasing trend during morning hours. Ganga at Phaphamau and Yamuna at Naini rose 66 cm and 44 cm respectively.However, both the rivers are still flowing four metres below the danger mark.
