Sidlaghatta (Chikkaballapur): A 32-year-old woman working as a water security resource person with FES, an NGO based in Sidlaghatta, died after drowning at a private resort in Chintadapi village in Chikballapur district under mysterious circumstances on Feb 23. The deceased was identified as Rekha. She was survived by her husband, Raja KV, 36, a resident of Kundalagurki village in Chintamani taluk.According to reports, Rekha went to Nature Resort to attend a two-day workshop organised by FES on Feb 23 and 24. She left home on the morning of Feb 23 and attended the workshop sessions until around 6.30pm. Later in the evening, she reportedly went swimming with her five colleagues.Raja alleged that he received a phone call from the team head Gopi, informing that Rekha drowned while swimming. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.Alleging foul play and gross negligence, Raja demanded a thorough investigation into the incident. He accused both the FES authorities and the management of Nature Resort of failing to ensure adequate safety measures and urged police to take strict action against those responsible for the tragedy. Police registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to her death.
