Pune: The Kalewadi police on Tuesday arrested a 47-year-old worker on the charge of sexually assaulting his neighbour’s two-and-a-half-year-old daughter by luring her with mangoes on Monday afternoon.Senior police inspector Rajendra Bahirat of the Kalewadi police said the accused lured the girl into his room by promising her mangoes and then sexually assaulted her.“The girl’s mother rushed to the accused’s room after hearing her daughter’s scream and rescued her, The accused, however, fled from there,” Bahirat said.Police have registered the case under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Pocso Act.“We nabbed him on Tuesday before he could escape. Our investigations are on,” the officer said.
