Ranchi: A casual worker, Birsa Kachhap (32), died on Sunday evening while cutting a tree at the bungalow of the Central Institute of Psychiatry’s director under the Kanke police station limits, police said.Police said a branch of the tree fell on Birsa, causing grievous injuries to him. They added that he was rushed to the hospital, but he died on the way.
Angry relatives staged a protest in front of the director’s bungalow for a short period, but police intervened and persuaded them to withdraw the strike.Kanke police station officer-in-charge Prakash Rajak said prima facie, it was a case of accident. He added that they were awaiting an application from the relatives before filing a case.
