Noida: A 19-year-old construction worker died after he was buried under soil while working on a borewell machine at the under-construction Godrej Riverine society in D block of Chhalera village in Sector 44 on Tuesday evening.Arjun Shukla, originally from Mathura village in Etah, had moved to the city two months ago in search of employment and began working at different construction sites. Around 5.30pm on Tuesday, Shukla was working on a borewell machine when the soil softened, and he fell and got buried underneath.The contractor and other workers at the site rushed to save him. They dug Shukla out, in an unconscious state, and rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was later declared dead on arrival.A team from Sector 39 police station reached the spot after receiving information about the accident. The post-mortem report revealed that Shukla died due to suffocation. His family was informed and they have taken custody of the body.According to police, construction work has not begun at the site in full-swing, and only boring work is ongoing there. Boring work involves drilling holes into the ground for various construction-related purposes. Shukla’s family has indicated they will file a complaint after his last rites are performed. Further action will be taken once a complaint is lodged, police said.
