Pune: The Wanowrie police on Tuesday registered a case against a crane operator and a labour contractor for allegedly neglecting workers’ safety after a 47-year-old woman died on the premises of a private company in the Hadapsar Industrial Estate on February 18.The police identified the deceased woman as Vaishali Bhosale, According to the police, Bhosale, a resident of Hadapsar, was working on the company premises when the crane operator was shifting iron bars. The crane was lifting heavy iron bars using worn-out ropes and webbing slings. The police said the worn-out ropes and webbing slings snapped after the crane lifted some heavy iron bars to a certain height. The heavy bars subsequently fell on Bhosale’s head and shoulder. She suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where she died, the police said.
