PUNE: Eight people, including a woman, abducted a businessman (34) hailing from Beed from his rented flat in Lohegaon around 11.15am on Monday over a business dispute.Senior inspector Manisha Patil of the Lohegaon police said, “The businessman was released in Ahilyanagar on Tuesday afternoon and he approached us with his complaint in the evening. He claimed that he owed Rs6 lakh to the suspects, also into sewing machine business in Ahilyanagar and Beed districts.” She said, “We detained two suspects on Wednesday evening from Ahilyanagar in connection with the case. Our team is bringing them to Pune. A search is on for the rest.”Patil said the Beed businessman shifted to Pune a month ago following a dispute with the suspects. “He started staying in a rented flat with his friends working in Pune, but the suspects traced his location.” The suspects went to the abducted businessman’s rented flat in a four-wheeler on Monday allegedly posing as police personnel from Ahilyanagar. “They threatened him and took him to Ahilyanagar. The suspects kept threatening the businessman in the four-wheeler during their journey from Pune to Ahilyanagar and demanded immediate payment of Rs70 lakh to settle the dispute,” Patil said.“The abducted businessman’s friends approached the police after realising that the suspects were not police personnel and that he was being taken to Ahilyanagar against his will. One of the accused was armed with a pistol,” she added.
