Lucknow: Sarojini Nagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh on Saturday launched the official Environment Warriors website and distributed electric scooters to women forest personnel at the Eco Awareness Centre in the Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary.The programme, held under the guidance of Katarniaghat divisional forest officer (DFO) Apoorv Dixit, was organised by Environment Warriors with support from the Shri Pitambara Baglamukhi Siddh Peeth Uttarakhand Trust, Lucknow.The event also saw the distribution of 100 raincoats and 100 tactical torches to strengthen monsoon and night patrol operations.Addressing the gathering, Rajeshwar Singh said environmental conservation has become essential for humanity’s survival and stressed the need to protect biodiversity-rich regions such as Katarniaghat, Dudhwa and Pilibhit. Citing the WWF Living Planet Report 2024, he said monitored global wildlife populations declined by 73% between 1970 and 2020, calling it a serious warning for the future of ecosystems and human civilisation.
