Thane: A woman died after being hit by a train while crossing the railway track wearing headphones near Ambernath railway station. Her colleague, who went to save her, also lost his life.The incident occurred late Sunday evening near Morivali village in Ambarnath. Vaishali Sunil Dhotre, 45, and Aatish Ramesh Ambekar, 29, both worked in the same company located in Anandnagar MIDC in Ambarnath.On Sunday at 7.30 pm, they left work to go home. According to Kalyan GRP, Ambekar went to drop Dhotre who was crossing the railway track while talking on the phone with her headphones on. Passersby saw a train approaching and tried to warn her, however, she was not paying attention. Ambekar went to save her but both were hit by the train, resulting in their deaths. Following the incident, Kalyan GRP registered an accidental death report. Pandharinath Kande, Senior Police Inspector of Kalyan GRP, said, “To find out the exact reason behind the accident, we are awaiting to record the statement of the motorman of the train.”Both of Aatish’s elder sisters are married, and he was the sole support of his elderly parents. Vaishali has a daughter and a 22-year-old son, and her husband drives a rickshaw. They were planning to get their daughter married this year.
