Udupi: A 34-year-old woman allegedly killed her 14-year-old daughter, who had a physical disability, before dying by suicide at Shanadi in Kedoor, under Kota police station limits, Sunday. The deceased were identified as Nethravati and her daughter, Suprathi. Police said Suprathi had been physically challenged since birth. Nethravati’s husband, Sudhakar, a daily-wage labourer, was away at work when the incident occurred. The couple also has a four-year-old son. According to the preliminary investigation, Nethravati is suspected to have attacked Suprathi with a sickle before dying by suicide. Police said the reason for the act is yet to be ascertained. Senior police officials inspected the spot, and Kota police have launched an investigation.
