T’puram: A homemaker died after she fell from a scooter and suffered serious head injuries in an accident at Kannamba Junction near Varkala on Thursday morning.The deceased was identified as Prameela, 51, of Kallazhivila. She was riding a pillion with her son when the accident occurred at 10.15am.According to police, the scooter’s brakes reportedly jammed while it was moving, causing the rider to lose control. Prameela fell headfirst onto the road and sustained grievous injuries. She was immediately taken to a private hospital for treatment. However, despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries.Her son, who was also injured in the accident, is undergoing treatment at the same hospital. His condition is reported to be stable.Police registered a case under the provisions relating to an unnatural death and launched a probe into the circumstances that led to the accident. Further inquiries are under way to ascertain the exact cause of the mishap.Prameela was the sister of former Varkala municipal councillor Pradeep.
