Rajkot: A 45-year-old woman, originally from West Bengal who lived in Ahmedabad, was found murdered with multiple stab wounds near Soldi toll plaza in Dhrangadhra taluka of Surendranagar district early on Monday morning.Investigators said the crime occurred between 4.00am and 4.30am and the victim was allegedly a sex worker. The matter was reported by a 48-year-old woman, who is also allegedly involved in sex work. She filed a complaint against a known man who is also allegedly involved in the flesh trade. A case of murder has been registered. Police rushed to the spot and sent the body for a postmortem examination. Narendra Singh Chudasama, in-charge police inspector of Dhrangadhra Taluka police station, confirmed that the 48-year-old suspect had been detained. The preliminary inquiry revealed that the victim and the accused knew each other. “The fatal injury was a stab wound inflicted on the left side of the victim’s chest,” he said. According to police sources, the confrontation began over a spot on the highway. The victim was standing with other sex workers when the accused arrived with another woman and told her to let the new woman stand there to get clients. During questioning, the accused allegedly confessed that he got enraged after the victim insulted him, leading him to attack her with a knife he was carrying. Further investigation into the motive and circumstances surrounding the murder is underway.
