Gorakhpur: A 45-year-old woman and her teenage son died after being electrocuted by an electric fence installed around a field in Dadhwa village under Sikriganj police station on Monday. The incident occurred when electricity passed through the wires connected to a shock machine installed around a field to protect crops from stray cattle. SHO Ashish Tiwari said preliminary investigation revealed that farmer Deendayal Maurya had connected the fencing wire of the shock machine to a domestic electricity line, causing live current to flow through the fence. Police said Maurya’s wife Rita Devi (45) and their son Himanshu (16) were working near the field. Villagers said Himanshu was first electrocuted after touching the fence. When his mother rushed to rescue him, she also came into contact with the live wire. Both died on the spot. TNN
