Varanasi: A truck heading towards Bihar with branded Indian-made foreign liquor worth Rs 1.4 crore was caught in joint action by police from Saiyyedraja police station, Special Weapons and Tactics team and surveillance cell in Chandauli on Tuesday.Chandauli ASP (Sadar) Anant Chandrashekhar and CO (Sadar) Devendra Kumar said 849 crates of bottles with 7,473.36 litres of IMFL of different brands, was being transported from Dadri (Noida) to Bihar by hiding the stock beneath paper bobbins (used for winding thread) in a truck, was caught during checking near Kale Peer Baba Mazar in Jethmalpur area under Saiyyedraja police station. The estimated value of the seized liquor was Rs 1.4 crore, they said, adding that two smugglers, identified as Harishchandra and Ankit of Mainpuri, were arrested, and their truck was seized.
