Chatra: A middle-aged woman died after being run over by a speeding truck near Bagra More under Lawalong police station limits of the district on Thursday. The deceased Ashwa Devi, a resident of Potam Tola in Kashimahuwa village, was killed on the spot.Angry locals intercepted the truck and handed over the driver to the police before blocking the road at Bagra chowk. The blockade, which lasted seven hours as locals demanded compensation for the victim’s family and legal action against the driver, was lifted after assurances from circle officer Gaurav and Surya Pratap Singh, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Lawalong police station. Singh said, “The driver has been arrested, and further legal proceedings are underway.”
