Bhubaneswar: A woman inspector-in-charge (IIC) of Chauliaganj police station, identified as Beauty Mohanty, 43, was found dead in her residence early Saturday morning in what police believe to be a case of suicide.According to police, Mohanty had a heated argument with her husband, who resides in Mumbai, on Friday night. Later that evening, she returned home after completing her duties at the police station. When neighbours knocked on her door the next morning, there was no response. The main entrance was locked from inside, prompting them to alert authorities.Police broke into the house and discovered Mohanty hanging from the ceiling of her bedroom. “From the circumstances, it looks like a case of suicide. There is no suspicion of foul play as the doors were locked from inside. From preliminary investigation, we came to know that she had family disputes. Further investigation is on,” said DCP (Cuttack) Rishikesh Khilari.Mohanty was recently transferred from the women’s police station to Chauliaganj. Colleagues described her as dedicated and disciplined, noting that she had returned home as usual after work on Friday night.
