Kolkata: A woman in Atabagan near Garia, in the Bansdroni PS area, has accused her neighbour of abducting and poisoning her dog. The complainant, Monalisa Roy, said the incident happened on Saturday. According to her, her husband took their dogs out for a walk around 8.30 am. During the walk, one of the dogs went missing for over two hours. A domestic help later said she heard the dog whimpering from a first-floor flat in the same building. Residents then found the missing dog inside the neighbour’s flat. Roy alleged that food was scattered on the floor and the dog looked weak and distressed.Soon after being rescued, the dog began vomiting. It was taken to a veterinary hospital and was admitted for treatment. Roy alleged that when the neighbour was questioned, she said her actions were intentional and threatened to harm the pets again. Residents also claimed that the accused had been involved in similar incidents earlier. The accused has denied any role in the matter. Roy said in her complaint that she and her husband are childless and consider their pets as family. She also said she is under treatment for clinical depression and that the incident has made her fear for her safety.Bansdroni Police have registered an FIR against the accused under sections of the BNS related to wrongful restraint, assault and criminal intimidation, along with Section 11C of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Police said they are checking the claims and examining the substance found on the floor of the flat. No arrest has been made yet.
