Ghaziabad: A 50-year-old woman died and her elderly mother and young daughter were injured after the e-rickshaw in which they were heading home was hit by a car near Jaipuria Market in Indirapuram on Saturday evening.The woman who died was Mrinalini Verma, a private school teacher from Vasundhara. Police said she lived with her 24-year-old daughter, Urvi Verma, and her 79-year-old mother, Manjul Shrivastava, after her divorce. The crash took place around 9.30pm in Niti Khand.According to police, the three had gone shopping to Jaipuria Market and were returning in an e-rickshaw when a Maruti Ciaz cruising at high speed hit the three-wheeler. The impact overturned the e-rickshaw and left all three women seriously injured.“A police team reached the spot immediately after receiving information and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital. Passersby also helped rush them to Yashoda Hospital, where doctors declared Mrinalini Verma dead,” a senior officer said.Her mother and daughter are still undergoing treatment. The e-rickshaw driver suffered minor injuries and was discharged.ACP (Indirapuram) Abhishek Srivastava said the car driver, Vishal Aggarwal — a businessman from Ashiyana Upvan in Indirapuram — was arrested at the spot and the vehicle seized. “He was returning home from the local market with his wife when his car collided with the e-rickshaw,” Srivastava said.On the basis of a complaint by the woman’s family, police registered an FIR under Section 281 of BNS for rash driving and Section 106 for causing death by negligence.
