Lucknow: Hardoi police on Tuesday arrested a woman and her lover for allegedly murdering her mother for opposing their relationship. The body of 65-year-old Phoolmati was found at a plot in Sandila Industrial Area on April 3 with multiple head injuries.Police said Neerja (31) of Meeto village used to live with her mother Phoolmati. She worked at a factory in Sandila Industrial Area. She met Sharafat (32), an e-rickshaw driver, during her daily commute to office. Over the time they developed feelings for each other.CO Santosh Kumar Singh said Phoolmati disapproved of their affair, but the duo continued to meet secretly. Phoolmati even met Sharafat once and cautioned him to stay away from her daughter. This enraged Neerja and Sharafat and they hatched a conspiracy to kill Phoolmati.On April 3, when Phoolmati left for the fields, Neerja and Sharafat attacked her. They hit her on the head with a stick resulting in her death on the spot. The case was solved after police analysed their call detail records (CDRs). During interrogation, both allegedly confessed to their crime. They have been remanded to jail, police said.
