Guwahati: A 40-year-old woman, who sustained serious injuries after an inter-district robbers’ gang attacked her and her husband on Apr 23 in Nagaon district, succumbed to her injuries on Sunday.She battled for life for about two weeks at a city hospital.Following the demise of the victim, identified as Ruprekha Bhuyan, police have now added murder charge to the case. Police have arrested six persons so far.Nagaon SSP Partha Pratim Das said, “We have arrested three persons — Rezak Ali, Razibur Rahman and Nur Hussain Ali.” Three others — Umar Ali, Mintu Mallik Hussain and Nazirul Islam — were arrested earlier.“It was an inter-district gang of eight robbers. They were hiding in a by-lane near the Dinaram Road, where the residence of the deceased is located, from around 10.30pm. They robbed around Rs 1.5 lakh in cash and looted jewellery that the couple was wearing. However, those were not gold jewellery and the robbers dumped them. Efforts to recover those are underway,” the SSP said.The officer added that police have recovered the sandals of Nur Hussain Ali from the by-lane, and two machetes, which the gang threw at the dump in Morikolong after the robbery.He said the owner of the vehicle used in the robbery has also been summoned in connection with the case.
