Chennai: Police arrested a woman for drugging her 20-year-old daughter with sleeping pills and facilitating her rape. The rapist, who is also the woman’s lover, was arrested too. Police said the daughter stopped speaking to the woman after discovering her relationship. In May last year, the mother gave her daughter a pill when she was unwell. The survivor lost consciousness, and the man raped her. When she regained consciousness and complained of pain, her mother dismissed it. A similar incident occurred in Jan too. While visiting her grandmother in Tiruvannamalai, the survivor fell sick and her examination revealed she was was pregnant. Police arrested the woman and man based on her complaint.tnn
