Palanpur: A woman police constable attached to the local intelligence bureau of Patan district died after an air-conditioner blast triggered a fire at her residence in Patan town on Wednesday afternoon.The deceased was been identified as Surekha Chaudhary. She was alone at her home in Gayatri Flats near Padmanath Chowkdi when the explosion occurred.According to police, Chaudhary was resting in her room when the air-conditioner exploded, triggering a major short-circuit. The ensuing fire spread rapidly, trapping her inside. She succumbed to burns and was declared dead at the scene.Police and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team reached the spot and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the explosion and fire. Her body was taken to Dharpur Civil Hospital for a postmortem.
