Kolkata: A 25-year-old woman was found hanging inside a rented apartment in New Town on Sunday night while her live-in partner was discovered with slit wrists, lying in a pool of blood. Cops are probing whether the case involves murder followed by a suicide attempt.The deceased, social media influencer Trisha Saha, was originally from Barrackpore while her partner, management professional Souvik Roy (29), is from Naihati. The couple had been living together at Chandiberia for the past four-five months after reportedly meeting at work.Police said they reached the apartment after being alerted by the landlord. When officers forced open the locked room, they found Trisha hanging and Souvik critically injured. He was taken to a private hospital where he remains under treatment.Cops said Trisha’s body bore multiple injury marks, including on her legs, raising suspicion that she may have been assaulted before death. “We are not drawing any conclusion at this stage,” an officer said. Landlord Sudam Maity said the couple had never created any disturbance during their stay. Maity told police that Souvik had called him around 9 pm and told him that Trisha had killed herself and asked him to call the police. When he reached the flat, Souvik opened the flat after multiple calls and he slumped on the ground soon afterwards. .
