Guwahati: A 30-year-old woman was found dead inside her rented flat in Hengrabari on Tuesday, police said. No visible injury marks were found on her body.The woman, identified as Dolly Kashyap of Sualkuchi, worked for an insurance company, a police officer from Dispur police station said. “We found a suicide note from her flat. Currently, an investigation is going on and we have detained some people for questioning,” he said.The incident came to light after the apartment owner visited the Kashyap’s flat but received no response. He noticed a foul smell coming from inside and alerted the police.A team from Dispur police station reached the spot to investigate.Police found that the deceased had mentioned Biswanath Das, a resident of West Bengal’s Purulia district, in her suicide note. The police officer said Das and the woman worked at the company’s Guwahati branch.“The deceased had mentioned his name in her note; we have detained him and are currently interrogating him. Her body has been sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination, and we are waiting for the results,” the officer said.A relative of Kashyap told the media that she had spoken to her family on the phone on Saturday and was supposed to return home on Sunday to celebrate puja with them. However, the family could not contact her despite several attempts. The family has raised suspicions of foul play and called for a thorough investigation into her death.
