A 22-year-old woman was found murdered with severe head and facial injuries at a rented accommodation in the Bajghera area, with police arresting her husband who had fled after the crime.

GURGAON: A 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife by hitting her with a gas cylinder at their rented accommodation in the Bajghera area.The woman, Gunjan (22), a resident of Bihar’s Samastipur, was found dead with severe head and facial injuries.The couple worked as daily-wage labourers. Suspicion rose on March 24 when the landlord and neighbours found their house had been locked since the night before. When no one answered by the afternoon, they peeked inside and saw Gunjan lying still on the floor. They then alerted the police.A team from Bajghera police station reached the spot and found the woman’s body with several injury marks, indicating a violent sexual assault.It was revealed that her husband, Sunil, had been missing since the night of the incident, raising suspicion about his involvement.According to police, the room had been rented out to Sunil on March 20 on the recommendation of his brother-in-law, Jeevan, who had earlier lived there. Jeevan had visited the room on March 23, a day before the woman was found dead.Based on the landlord’s complaint, an FIR was registered under sections 103(1) (murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.Police arrested Sunil from Gurgaon on March 26. According to cops, he confessed that on the night of March 23, an argument escalated, following which he attacked her with a gas cylinder, leading to her death.Further investigation is underway to find whether any other person was involved in the crime. The role of the brother-in-law mentioned in the complaint is also being verified.
