Gurgaon: The body of a 48-year-old woman was found in a field near Mohala in Faridabad on Friday, two days after she went missing.She had left home on April 15 to pay an electricity bill but did not return. After the family’s search yielded no results, a missing person’s complaint was filed at Sector 58 police station.Cops from Sector 58 station, crime branch and the forensic unit reached the spot and collected evidence after the woman’s son found her saree near an irrigation canal. Her body was found a short distance away. Her mangalsutra was also found nearby, indicating a possible struggle.The woman, who was from Bihar, lived with her husband, three children and a grandchild. Police said her husband and elder son had recently moved to Chennai for jobs in a private company.A murder case has been registered against unidentified persons on the basis of a complaint filed by one of her relatives. Police said the family suspects sexual assault, but confirmation will depend on the autopsy report.Relatives said the investigation was delayed as cops at the Sikrona police post and Sector 58 police station kept referring them to each other over jurisdiction. Police denied the allegation.Inspector Vinod, SHO of Sector 58 police station, said there were no visible injury marks on the body. He added that CCTV footage is being examined to trace the woman’s movements, while the autopsy report is expected to determine the cause of death and whether sexual assault took place.
