Charkhi Dadri: A 37-year-old married woman was found dead in a canal under suspicious circumstances in Charkhi Dadri, triggering a confrontation between her maternal family and in-laws at the civil hospital during the postmortem.The deceased, Sita of Berla village, is survived by a 14-year-old daughter and a nine-year-old son. Her husband has been identified as Suresh Kumar.Her body was recovered from the canal late Wednesday night and brought to the civil hospital on Thursday for postmortem and other formalities. Members of both families gathered there, where an argument over the circumstances of her death turned physical, creating a commotion among patients and attendants.Sita’s maternal family alleged that she had been assaulted and murdered and that her body was subsequently dumped in the canal. They demanded immediate arrest of those responsible.Badada police station SI Sombir said a murder case had been registered against Suresh and his three uncles. No arrest had been made so far.After the postmortem, Sita’s maternal family handed over her body to the in-laws, who performed the last rites in Kadma village.Police said the allegations were being investigated and the postmortem report and other evidence would help establish the cause of death and sequence of events.
