Kanpur: A woman’s body was found near National Highway-34 in the Sumerpur police station area of Hamirpur on Tuesday evening. The police are making efforts to identify the body.Superintendent of Police Mrigank Shekhar Pathak said, “Prima facie the case appears to be of murder by strangulation.”Some passers-by spotted the body near Leena Nala along National Highway-34 on Tuesday evening and informed the police.On being informed, Sumerpur police reached the spot, inspected the scene and collected evidence. Police and field unit teams collected evidence from the site.Police said said technical evidence was being collected and statements of people in the surrounding area were also being recorded.Police noted that earlier too at the same location, a woman’s body was found on the night of March 26 with her face badly crushed.
