Ara: A 35-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide in the early hours of Tuesday at her home in the Anand Nagar locality of Ara town. Her body was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her bedroom. The deceased, Sangita Devi, wife of one Sonu Kumar, had a love marriage in 2018 following the death of her first husband, Mukesh Kumar, allegedly a drug addict, in 2015.“Prima facie the reason behind the alleged suicide is domestic strife as the deceased woman’s brother has stated. The body has been sent to the Ara Sadar Hospital for the post mortem,” said Devraj Rai, SHO of the Ara Town police station, on Tuesday.Brother of the deceased, Ratnesh Kumar, a resident of Fatehpur Dhibra under the Parsa police station of Patna district, said, “My sister’s first husband, Mukesh Kumar, who was a drug addict, died after falling from the rooftop in 2015. Later my sister started working in a shopping mall at Ara where she came in contact with Sonu and they fell in love, culminating in their love marriage in 2018.”Elaborating on the reason behind Sangita’s alleged suicide, her brother added, “Everything in their marriage was going on well. However, bitterness seeped in their relationship a few months ago when there was a theft of Rs 11,000 from their home. Both the spouses accused each other of stealing the money. They often quarreled over this issue but of late, the quarrel seemed to have subsided. However, on Tuesday morning I received a call from her husband who informed me that my sister had hung herself from the ceiling fan.”Sangita had two sons from her first marriage but had no issue from her second marriage.
