Chatra: A 22-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide at Chiloi village in Chatra district on Monday over stress related to her relationship, police said.Lalita Kumari, daughter of Kailash Ganjhu, consumed pesticide at her residence. Family members rushed her to a nearby health centre, but her condition deteriorated on the way to hospital. Doctors at Sadar Hospital declared her dead. Police said that Lalita was in a relationship with Dinesh Ganjhu of Bramanna village. She was under mental stress for the past few days over relationship issues.Family members claimed that after consuming poison, Lalita informed Dinesh over phone, following which he alerted her elder brother, Tulsi Ganjhu.Both families were aware of the relationship and the couple’s marriage was fixed for next month with mutual consent. However, Lalita’s family has demanded strict action against Dinesh, alleging his role in the incident.Officer in-charge of Kunda police station, Prince Kumar, said post-mortem examination was conducted and Lalita’s body was handed over to her family. “An investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to her death,” he added.
