Manisha the woman who committed suicide at Mahesh Nagar area in Jaipur

Jaipur: A 35-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide at her rented home in the Mahesh Nagar area Wednesday evening, just days after her family purchased a house with a Rs44 lakh home loan. Her family claimed she had been under severe stress over repaying the loan, with the first EMI of around Rs 34,000 due on Aug 15.Police identified the deceased as Manisha, a native of Bamanwas in Sawai Madhopur district, who was living with her husband and two sons in Mahavir Colony, Kartarpura.According to police, Manisha had tea with her husband, Om Prakash, and their children on Wednesday evening before Om Prakash left to get his mobile phone repaired in Mahesh Nagar. After he left, Manisha asked both children to go outside and play. She then locked the room from inside and allegedly hung herself using a saree.“When Om Prakash returned home, he found the door locked from inside. Despite repeatedly knocking and calling her, there was no response. He eventually broke open the door and found her hanging,” a police officer said.Police reached the spot after being alerted, brought down the body in the presence of family members and sent it for post-mortem. The body was handed over to the family after the autopsy Thursday.According to Om Prakash, the couple had recently bought an 86 square yard house in Hathoj for about Rs49 lakh by taking a Rs44 lakh home loan in Manisha’s name. The property was registered only eight days ago, and the family planned to move in after Dev Uthani Ekadashi.“Manisha had been under constant tension over repaying the home loan even though the first EMI was yet to be deducted. Our family was eagerly waiting to move into the new house after Dev Uthani, but happiness turned into mourning before we could even shift,” Om Prakash said. The couple, who married in 2011, are survived by their two sons.
