Patna: A 55-year-old woman died after falling from the terrace of a four-storey building in Phulwarisharif of Patna late Thursday evening. CCTV footage of the incident surfaced on Friday, while police said they were investigating the circumstances surrounding her fall.The deceased was identified as Manju Devi, who lived with her daughter, Manisha, in a rented house at Adarsh Nagar Road No. 1 under Phulwarisharif police station area.According to police, construction work was underway on the fourth floor of the building. Manju had gone to the terrace for some work when she fell on the road. She sustained critical injuries and died before she could be taken to hospital. Locals had attempted to rush her to AIIMS Patna.CCTV footage from the area shows Manju falling on the road with a thud. A girl passing by is seen reacting in shock before local residents gather at the spot. However, the footage does not make clear what led to the fall.Manju’s daughter was not at home at the time of the incident. After being informed by residents, a team from Phulwarisharif police station, along with Danapur ASP Ajit Kumar, reached the spot.“Prima facie, the woman appeared to have died after falling from the terrace. However, police are investigating the case from all possible angles before reaching a conclusion,” ASP said, adding an FSL team examined the spot and collected evidence.During questioning, Manisha told police that her mother had been suffering from a mental health condition and was undergoing treatment. “We are examining the information as part of the investigation and have not reached a final conclusion about the circumstances of the fall,” ASP said.Police are also examining Manju’s cellphone records to establish whom she had contacted around the time of the incident and in the preceding days.
