Kanpur: A woman died while her paramour was admitted to ICU after the two allegedly consumed a poisonous substance in a field outside Faridpur village under Ghatampur police station on Saturday.According to villagers, the woman was married and had allegedly been in a relationship with a youth from the same village for around two years. The two reportedly reached a field on Saturday morning and consumed the poisonous substance.Police were informed after the woman’s condition deteriorated. She was taken to Ghatampur CHC and referred to Kanpur in critical condition, but died on the way.The man’s family took him to a private hospital in Kanpur, where doctors admitted him to the ICU after finding his condition critical. He is undergoing treatment.The woman’s father-in-law, Shiv Balak, said the woman, Bhanwati, was originally from Sukhpur village in Fatehpur district. She was married to Vishal and had a seven-year-old son, Saksham. Shiv Balak claimed that around four years ago, she left her husband and began living with his son Sonu, who drives an auto-rickshaw. The couple also had a three-year-old daughter.He said that while they were living together, Bhanwati allegedly developed a relationship with another youth from her village.Ghatampur ACP Krishnakant said the woman’s body had been sent for postmortem. Further action would be taken based on the postmortem report and findings of the investigation.
