Guwahati: A woman and her 5-year-old daughter died after an SUV hit their two-wheeler on Friday.Police identified them as Nilakshi Ingti Rahang (28) and her daughter Aditi Rahang, residents of Chamta Pathar village in Sonapur on the city’s outskirts.“The SUV was coming from the Guwahati side and heading towards Khetri when the accident took place in the Lal Mati area along an NH-27 stretch. The mother was attempting to make a U-turn while heading towards Sonapur when the speeding vehicle hit their two-wheeler,” ADCP (traffic) Shafeequl Hussain said.The duo died at the scene. Their bodies were sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy.Police said the SUV was registered in Karbi Anglong district and the two-wheeler in Kamrup (Metropolitan) district.Traffic personnel from Sonapur police station reached the scene and detained the SUV driver.“The driver hails from Karbi Anglong, and he has been detained. A case will be registered against him,” the officer said.Police have begun an investigation into the accident.
