Kanpur: Kanpur Dehat police arrested a woman carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 who had been absconding for around 11 years in a murder case, officials said on Wednesday.The accused, identified as Sona, a resident of Chain Ka Purwa village, was wanted in connection with a murder case registered in 2015.According to police, an FIR under Section 302 (murder) was lodged against her in 2015. When she could not be arrested, proceedings under Sections 82 and 83 of the CrPC were initiated against her the same year.On January 31, 2024, the chief judicial magistrate declared her an absconder and issued an arrest warrant against her.As she remained on the run, the superintendent of police announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for information leading to her arrest. Acting on a tip-off and following sustained investigation, police arrested her on Tuesday near Bilhapur turn.After the arrest, police completed the necessary legal formalities and produced the accused before a court.
