Nagpur: The plot to eliminate Ganesh Borkar, a criminal who was stabbed to death at Hanuman Nagar in Bhandewadi police station limits on Thursday, was allegedly hatched by his wife who paid ₹1 lakh ‘supari’ to a Kanhan-based gang to execute the murder. She also allegedly paid Rs50,000 as advance to the gang, said police.Police said the accused, Manisha Borkar, has around 13 bootlegging cases since 2020. She was peeved with Ganesh for allegedly making sexual advances towards her two daughters from her first marriage, said police. Ganesh faced 17 criminal cases, including the rape of a five-year-old girl from Pardi in 2019.Ganesh, who was released from jail a few months ago, also mentally and physically harassed Manisha, police added. As per police, Manisha had threatened Ganesh a few days ago in full public view.Investigators found that Manisha, along with her friend Abhijeet Shakre alias Daddu, who has a criminal record, hired three assailants, including two minors and a man named Rohit Borkar. The two minors, including one who faces a murder case, and Rohit are absconding, said police. The trio first monitored Ganesh’s daily movements for several days before executing the plan on Thursday night. The assailants, with their faces covered, sprinkled chilli powder into his eyes, temporarily blinding him before pinning him down and stabbing him multiple times with sharp weapons. Ganesh died on the spot. The Crime Branch team led by ACP Shiv Prasad Parve and Senior PI Vinayak Golhe cracked the case swiftly with tactical interrogation of the suspects, especially Manisha.Manisha reportedly confessed to hatching the murder plot. She and Shakre were handed over to Bhandewadi police station. Interestingly, Shakre had tried to mediate when Ganesh used to allegedly assault Manisha. “Shakre introduced Manisha to the gang. We are soon expecting to nab the other accused,” said senior inspector Nitin Charde of Bhandewadi police station.
