Kanpur: Anwarganj police on Saturday registered an FIR against a woman after suspicious activity was detected in her bank account maintained at the Latouche Road branch of a govt bank.Police said the Cyber Cell Office, Swaroop Nagar (Central Zone), had shared a list of suspected mule accounts being operated in banks falling under the Anwarganj police station area.During the investigation, police found that the account of Anita Saini, a resident of Moolganj Chauraha, was linked to 24 complaints registered on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) from different states.Police suspect that the account was being used as a mule account to route money obtained through cyber fraud.

ACP Anwarganj Manjay Singh said an investigation has been launched into the account holder’s role and her possible links with a cyber fraud gang.Police are also probing whether the account was operated by the account holder herself or was being used by members of a cyber gang.
