Dumka: A 40-year-old woman and her 14-year-old son were allegedly hacked to death by unidentified assailants at Hetth Navadih village in Deoghar district early on Tuesday, police said. The deceased were identified as Rubeda Bibi and her son, Chhotu.Their bodies were recovered after SP Praveen Pushkar sent teams from four neighbouring police stations to the spot. Preliminary probe suggests the attackers slit their throats between 1 am and 2 am. Pushkar later reached the crime scene with the forensic team and district investigation wing.Police sources said Rubeda’s husband, Riyaz Ahmad, was murdered four years ago. Five accused were sentenced to life imprisonment but now are out on bail. The couple’s elder son, a labourer in West Bengal, left for his village after getting information. His wife reportedly witnessed the crime.“Police are investigating the case from all possible angles. Past enmity, along with other possible motives, is being examined. Further action will be taken based on forensic findings and the post-mortem report,” an officer said.“Senior officers, including the SP, visited the crime scene, and forensic experts have collected evidence. The investigation is progressing on multiple fronts to identify and apprehend the culprits,” the officer added.
