Kanpur: A 27-year-old woman from a village under the Sumerpur police station area in Hamirpur district has filed a complaint against a man from her village, alleging that he raped her at gunpoint on July 27.According to the complaint, the woman alleged that she was alone at her house on July 27 when the accused allegedly entered the premises, assaulted her and raped her at gunpoint.She further alleged that when she raised an alarm, her brother-in-law and nearby residents rushed to the spot, overpowered the accused and handed him over to the police.However, she claimed that the accused was released without any action being taken against him.The woman alleged that her husband, who works outside, returned home on Sunday. Following his return, the couple went to the Sumerpur police station and lodged a formal complaint.In a social media post, Hamirpur police said Sumerpur police had been directed to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations and take necessary legal action.
